Finished: "In Vintage Tone" 1940s Knitted JumperI am so excited to be sharing this one with you today! It is my finished "In Vintage Tone" jumper from the Australian Women's Weekly, August 1941. It turned out so lovely and I am very, very happy with it.
This is actually my first jumper! So far I've only knitted two cardigans and one dress. (Have I only knitted so little?! It feels like I've been knitting all my life!) I always love the silhouette 1940s jumpers give. Alas, I am rather flat-chested so these jumpers do not have the waist-defining effect on me as they do on other ladies.. oh well. I decided to photograph the jumper on both me and my more voluptuous dressform so you can see the difference.
I cast on on October 3rd and finished it this Saturday, December 6. I actually finished knitting much sooner but I had lost my only tapestry needle so I couldn't sew it up. When I finally bought a new one I was struggling a bit with making the seams look as seamless as possible since this was the first time I was dealing with a stitch pattern other than stockinette or rib. The cute little buttons are brand new, semi-transparent white with a star carved into them.
After what happened with my dress, this jumper has definitely helped me recover my knitting confidence
